Reserve deputies provide supplemental personnel for routine law enforcement activities.
The time commitment is approximately 20 hours a month. Applicants must pass written and oral aptitude exams, as well as a comprehensive background check. Reserves must be 21 or older and possess a valid Oregon driver's license at time of appointment. Reserve deputies assist regular deputies with patrol duties, civil paper service and security for special events.
