Clatsop County Public Health reminds residents that the oral COVID-19 antiviral therapeutics Paxlovid and Molnupiravir are available locally for people who are COVID-positive.

Both therapies have been shown to greatly reduce the risk of hospitalization for COVID-positive individuals.

The two therapies are available for people who:

·        Are age 12 and up (Paxlovid) or 18 and up (Molnupiravir); and

·        Have tested positive for COVID-19; and

·        Are experiencing mild-to-moderate symptoms, but who are at risk of developing severe illness.

Both therapies are currently available from Columbia Memorial Hospital pharmacies in Astoria and Seaside; Rite-Aid pharmacy in Warrenton carries the Molnupiravir therapy. The therapies, however, are only available by prescription. Your physician or health care provider can provide more information on eligibility, potential side effects and which therapy is most appropriate for you, as well as direct you to the local pharmacies that carry the therapies.

If you do not have a primary care provider or medical care home, contact your local urgent care clinic.

The therapies are not available from Clatsop County Public Health.
