In March 2023, Clatsop and Columbia Counties collaborated to bring parents of our region various resources about youth substance use and prevention. We hosted a virtual event where we heard from local medical professionals, addiction prevention experts, drug recognition law enforcement specialists, and more. Topics covered included local trends, fentanyl, how to talk to teens about preventing overdose, the link between mental health and substance use, drug recognition and intoxication, mental and physical effects of drug use, and local resources.
