Mold

Mold is ubiquitous – it is everywhere!  The environmental conditions of Clatsop County provide an excellent habitat for mold growth.
There are many stories about the hazards of “black” mold on the internet, but generally speaking, mold has not been proven to be harmful.  Certain species of mold under the right conditions can create a health hazard.  However, the most common response to mold is an allergic reaction from the spores they release – in terms of asthma or other respiratory problems.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finds that, “Mold can cause fungal allergy and respiratory infections or worsen certain illnesses such as asthma. Molds are microorganisms that are found virtually everywhere, indoors and outdoors. The potential health effects of exposure to indoor mold are of increasing concern. Nevertheless, no conclusive evidence exists that inhalation of indoor mold is associated with a multitude of other health problems, such as pulmonary hemorrhage, memory loss, and lack of energy (CDC, 2016)."

Mold Inspections of Rental Property
