Citizen Involvement

Never doubt
that a small group of thoughtful,
concerned citizens
can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
- Margaret Mead

There are many ways for citizens to be involved in Clatsop County government:

  • Volunteer to help a child, homeless animal
  • Become a reserve deputy or join search and rescue
  • Join an advisory commission or committee

Citizen Committees
These panels offer citizens the opportunity to be very involved in specific activities and goals of their county. Hundreds of local residents are appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve on various committees. What's your interest? From budget to children to land use -- the county wants your input in developing policies. Click here for a committee volunteer application form.

Volunteer
Our volunteers are a huge resource. In 2019, a total of 315 volunteers contributed 19,588 hours representing $498,122.84.

You don't need special skills in most cases, just a caring heart and commitment. Volunteering makes your county a better place to live, connects you with your neighbors and gains you new skills.

Voter Registration
You may register to vote if you are an Oregon resident, a U.S. citizen or will be by Election Day, and are 18 or older by Election Day.
