Food service workers are required to obtain a Food Handler Card within 30 days of beginning work. The cost of the card is $10 and the card is valid for three years. If you have a valid Food Safety Manager Training certificate, it is accepted in lieu of a food handler card. Food handler cards issued in other states are not valid in Oregon.
How to get a food handler card:
- Online from the following providers (will require a debit or credit card for payment):
- Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association (Available in English or Spanish)
- State Food Safety (Available in English, Español, 普通话, 한국어, Việt, American Sign Language, Tagalog)
- Multnomah County Health Department (Available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese or Russian)
- In person by request at the Clatsop County Environmental Health office. Contact us to schedule an appointment by calling (503) 325-9302. Please bring a valid form of identification and $10.
