Astoria High School Teen Parenting Program - Childcare

Project Provider:  Astoria School District

Amount Received: $10,000.00

Project Summary:  This program provides a curriculum-based high school program for pregnant and parenting teens.  Commission funds provide for childcare for students that do not qualify for reimbursement through DHS or any other program. Enrollment is open to all Clatsop County youth. 

 

Caring Adults Developing Youth Mentoring Program

Project Provider: Clatsop County Juvenile Department

Amount Received: $7,030.00

Project Summary:  This mentoring program is a countywide program available to youth ages 10-17 who are at risk for criminal behavior. Commission funds will pay for refreshments at events, mailings to advertise, and stipends for mentors. 

 

CASA

Project Provider: Court Appointed Special Advocates

Amount Received: $31,048.00

Project Summary:  This program provides support to trained community volunteers who, upon appointment by the presiding juvenile court judge, advocate for the best interests of children who are involved in a juvenile court proceeding as the result of child abuse or neglect. 

 

Family Support and Connections In The Schools

Project Provider: Women’s Resource Center

Amount Received: $21,099.00

Project Summary:  This program will continue to provide services to youth who have exhibited emotional problems or demonstrated at-risk behaviors by conducting home visits with the families.  FSC ITS caseworker will attend monthly YST meetings in each participating school district.  The funds provide for the FSC ITS caseworker. 

 

Literacy Options: Community, Family and Childcare Providers

Project Provider: Community Action Team Inc.

Amount Received: $6,230.00

Project Summary:  This program will offer a comprehensive early literacy training program to childcare providers, Motheread/Story Exploring facilitator training in Spanish and literacy focused family fun nights.

 

Parenting Education

Project Provider: Clatsop County Prevention Program 

Amount Received: $31,716.00

Project Summary:  This project provides several different parenting education programs for elementary and middle school parents around the county, which include: Make Parenting a Pleasure, Parenting Now, and the Strengthening Families Program.

 

Lunch Buddy Mentoring

Project Provider: Lunch Buddy Mentors

Amount Received: $5,750.00

Project Summary: This project matches caring adults with students at risk for school failure in a once a week mentoring program that takes place over lunch.  It serves five elementary and two middle schools in the County.

   

Warrenton High School Tutoring

Project Provider: Warrenton School District

Amount Received: $10,000.00

Project Summary:  This program will offer tutoring to students who are showing academic and personal struggles with school.  The emphasis will be to create a positive learning opportunity for the students to build academic skills through relationships with caring adults.   

 

Warrenton High School Fun Nights

Project Provider: Warrenton School District

Amount Received: $2,350.00

Project Summary:  This project will offer four activity nights, one per quarter in the evenings to students, with parental and staff supervision.  The intent is to offer healthy, fun activities that increase bonding to school across a diverse cross-section of the student body.
