The Clatsop County Public Safety Coordinating Council will:

• Improve the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in Clatsop County through the collection and analysis of information, assessment of needs and development of strategies to meet the needs.
  
• Advise the Board of Commissioners on public safety priorities and recommend funding to meet the priorities.
  
• Disseminate accurate information to the public about the local criminal justice system and advocate on important issues.
  
• Develop and recommend to the Board of Commissioners a plan for use of resources to serve the local adult and juvenile offenders.
  
• Coordinate and integrate local criminal justice and juvenile justice policies, practices and procedures.
  
• In consultation with the local Commission on Children and Families, develop and recommend to the Board of Commissioners a plan designed to prevent criminal involvement by youth.
