Economic Development


The Economic Development Division is responsible for the workings of the Clatsop County Economic Development Council; assisting business in relocation and expansion; developing, coordinating and maintaining the county’s annual Needs and Issues Inventory; providing liaisons to the local chambers of commerce, Columbia Pacific Economic Development District, Northwest Oregon Economic Alliance, Northwest Oregon Regional Partnership and various State of Oregon departments.

The division works with the Clatsop County Development Council, a citizen advisory group working to improve the economy while maintaing our unique quality of life. The organization helps businesses in relocation and expansion and develops annual Needs and Issues Inventory. CEDC is made up of more than 60 county residents, business owners and elected officials who are appointed each year by the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners.  Dozens of other local individuals serve with CEDC on committees that address issues affecting the economic health of the county:

The Economic Development Division serves as a clearinghouse for socio-economic information, trends, etc., in order to serve as a resource for new businesses that may desire to locate within the county.  Similarly, the division responds to specific project leads provided by the Oregon Economic & Community Development Department.  

The division assists and provides information to U.S. and state legislators about Clatsop County, economic-related issues and projects.

The division coordinates CEDC’s educational programs/forums, which are focused on specific economic development issues, and the annual forestry/wood products fall tour.
